HOW WE MET
We met during our freshman year of college at Kansas State at a fraternity party, like all good love stories. Throughout the fall, we continued to run into each other because our Greek chapters were homecoming partners. Sam asked me to be his girlfriend at So Long Saloon in January of 2019, and we’ve continued to date ever since.
WHERE WE ARE NOW
Once we graduated from college, we made the move to Chicago, IL, where we’ve now been for almost four years. We feel so lucky to bring family and friends from all chapters of our lives together to Omaha to celebrate our marriage and love for each other.
THE PROPOSAL
From the beginning of our relationship, Kendra and I have had A-List memberships to AMC theaters. This means we can see up to three movies a week for “free”. We love this because in order to get our money's worth, we see a lot of movies we wouldn’t normally choose. After six years, we consider ourselves experienced movie goers. Since moving to Chicago we’ve kept this tradition going. For our engagement, Kendra deserved something special that spoke to our relationship. So with the movie theme in mind, I rented out a theater at the Landmark Century Centre Cinema and created my own movie of videos and pictures from our relationship throughout the years.
I was able to find a company to convert the video I made into a movie format, so it worked out perfectly. I disguised the engagement as a short film we were invited to from another person connected to our friend group. When Kendra and I got to the theater she could sense something was up because we were the only ones there. However, midway through my film, friends and family snuck into the theater behind us, and this was a total surprise. Thankfully Kendra said yes (woohoo!), and we spent the rest of the day going to a few of our favorite places with friends and family. Far and above my favorite day in Chicago.
